That was great help. Now when I command ipconfig/all in a terminal I get more than the heading so I can get the MAC for a license. I'm using ubuntu 10-4 with XP in VB. Many thanks Ian.

In case google finds this I'll repeat your info.
First, make sure the virtual machine is not already running. Turn it off if it is.

Next, highlight the WinXP virtual machine within the Sun VirtualBox main screen. Click Settings. Select Network. Change the Adapter Type to Intel PRO/1000 T Server (bunchanumbers) then OK and start the virtual machine.

Thanks n3wt0n! I tried Sun VM for a few days and decided I liked it better than VMWare Server and so I converted my M$ VMWare VM to a Sun VM and couldn't get the networking fixed until I read your post.

Wine has it's uses but I would prefer to run it inside a native Windows. The VBox also affords me the added benefit of testing my Java apps with a Windows-only JRE.

As for IE testing, I don't even know what the latest version of IE is, that's how often I use it :-P Whichever one you can find on the latest WinXP with the latest service packs.

You can't run it through wine, or does it not always show correctly?

Please don't tell me you're doing it for IE 5.5 compatibility. *shudders*
